Annona muricata, the soursop, is a tree in the Annonaceae family. Native to South America, it is cultivated for its edible fruits in many countries with a tropical climate. Soursop is found naturally throughout tropical America and the Caribbean, from Mexico to Brazil and the West Indies. In Costa Rica it is widely cultivated, mainly at low elevations (0-700 m) with humid and hot climates.
