Tree over 30 m tall, with a straight trunk and deeply cracked light gray bark. Globose and dense crown and foliage for a few months. Native to central Mexico, from Sinaloa and Durango to Veracruz and Chiapas to Guatemala. It lives in humid mountain forests, pine forests and pine oak. It lives in ravines, riverside forests and ravines, at altitudes between 1,100 and 2,600 meters above sea level. Used for reforestation, production of wood and tools, in beekeeping and as medicine against fever, malaria and malaria.
