The Kerpis palm, Manila or Christmas palm, is a solitary palm tree that reaches 3.7-10 m in height, with a simple, light gray trunk, about 15 cm in diameter, with slightly marked knots (rings), thicker in the base, with capital.

The leaves are pinnate, 12 to 25 in number, arched, with wide segments, erect and then curved, arranged on the rachis forming a V. The inflorescence is infrafoliar (occurs between the trunk and the capital), branched several times, White. The oval, red fruits are very showy when ripe.

Resists droughts. Although it is sensitive to cold, it can thrive in any type of soil. It is commonly used in urban landscapes such as gardens and residential or commercial complexes.
