Syagrus romanzoffiana, the pindó or ybá pitá palm, is a species in the palm family (Arecaceae). It is native to southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and the Argentine coast.
It is planted today as an ornamental, and has been introduced for that purpose in other tropical, subtropical and even Mediterranean regions of the world, being commonly used in urban planning. In relation to other palm trees, it tolerates relatively poor soils and cool temperatures well.

It belongs to the Arecaceae family, and is native to Brazil, northern Argentina and Paraguay. It is popularly known as the feathery coconut, pineapple palm, or arecastrum. Its leaves are pinnate, with a length that can be up to 4m.
It has a smooth trunk, with a thickness that, generally, does not exceed 30cm; although specimens have been seen whose trunks measured 50cm in diameter at their base. It grows up to 10 meters in height.
